APPLYING TO THE JOINT CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY – UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH PHD PROGRAM IN COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY

Interested in joining the Joint CMU-Pitt PhD Program in the Fall of 2026?  Students apply using the online admissions site of the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science.

The application website for our graduate program is now closed and will reopen on September 3, 2025.  We encourage applications by the early deadline.  However, applications will be accepted until the final deadline (December 10, 2025), to allow the inclusion of all required information. Please contact the CPCB Program administrators or scs-grad-application@andrew.cmu.edu with any questions or about any difficulties with assembling your application, as incomplete applications cannot be evaluated. Please complete and submit the online application, as well as your supplemental materials, by the deadline. Applications are reviewed by our Admissions Committee as they become complete (i.e. receipt of all recommendation letters, transcript(s), and if required, TOEFL score reports, resume and personal statement). GRE’s are not required.

Admission is offered either through Carnegie Mellon University or the University of Pittsburgh based upon the evaluation of your application.

If you have any application questions, please email scs-grad-application@andrew.cmu.edu.

For program-related questions, please contact: Kelly Gentille (kmg120@pitt.edu) or Nicole Stenger (nstenger@cs.cmu.edu)

If the application fee presents financial hardship to the applicant, they may apply for a financial or participants of program fee waiver which is available within the application.
