MSTP Student Anna Li Named 2023 PD Soros Fellow
By Adam Kohlhaas
Anna Li, a graduate student pursuing her M.D./Ph.D in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) sponsored jointly by Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh, was awarded the 2023 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship For New Americans.
Since its inception in 1997, the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship has been awarded to immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States who are poised to make noteworthy contributions to American society, culture or their academic discipline.
One of only 30 recipients from almost 2,000 applicants, Li is the child of Chinese immigrants who came to the United States so that she could be born. She graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in biology and spent two years at the University of Washington before joining MSTP. In addition to her studies, she is also the founder and CEO of Korion Health, a startup that aims to empower patients to access healthcare screenings from their homes using devices and tools they have created.
